MONDAY 2nd OCTOBER 1972
Pamela Green
10.19pm. This morning we received the corrected Pyramid captions from John Graveley, a back number (No. 103) of Man, Myth and Magic which we had ordered from BPC Publishing Ltd. to replace the one which Chivers said was faulty, and Pamela Green’s Posing Guide which I ordered on Thursday after having seen it advertised in a magazine John Battersby showed me. There was a nice letter from Brian Bosomworth and a cheque for $50, his tithe.
It took most of the day to answer the letters. There was a difficult letter to write to Mrs. Ed Schwabe, and Colin Kendall wanted to know about the Incarnation of Jesus. Freda came to do the cleaning after the girls had gone home. I wrote up the accounts and did some tidying up, then we came home together. Mr. Coombes’ workman was just finishing his day’s work. He had repaired the plaster-work in the vestibule and finished the painting at the back of the house.
This evening I have done some recording work, and a few minutes ago we were watching The Incredible Robert Baldrick: Never Come Light, about the exorcism of a haunted abbey, which was suitably spooky. Later on we hope to watch The Sky At Night which will present the very latest photographs from Mars. How vastly our knowledge of the planets is increasing. I remember when in my teens asking for a book to be put in Acocks Green Library. It was The Planet Mars by Gérard de Vaucouleurs [translated from the French by Patrick A. Moore] which must be hopelessly outdated by now.
